On Friday, Tennessee head coach Butch Jones confirmed star linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. will miss the entirety of the 2017 season after undergoing surgery on his meniscus. Kirkland missed five games last season due to a high ankle sprain.
“We had a positive outlook that it (the injury) might’ve (kept him out) 3, 4, 5 weeks,” Jones said. “But unfortunately, that’s not the case.”
In eight games last season, Kirkland recorded 30 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and a sack.
