Wednesday it was reported that LSU General Manager Austin Thomas would be joining Jeremy Pruitt’s Tennessee Vols staff in a similar role.
Saturday evening, there were rumblings that the deal wasn’t done and that Thomas might not join the school where he got his masters degree.
Sunday morning, Doug Mathews on 1045 The Zone in Nashville dropped this nugget about the Tennessee – Austin Thomas situation.
“Austin Thomas will not be a part of the Tennessee Football program and staff…”

There was no reason from Mathews. He went to break soon after and changed subjects the next segment.
This from Dan Harralson was from early Sunday morning:
There are still items to be worked out with former LSU GM Austin Thomas. Should he take a job on staff at Tennessee, responsibilities are still being determined.

Another interesting note on Thomas:
If this Austin Thomas stuff is true, you should know this: He did something similar last year when he left LSU for USC. He worked at USC for three months and then backed out and went back to Baton Rouge.

This would be a BIG miss for Tennessee Football as Austin Thomas is considered one of the best young minds in college football.
