No. 5) Mississippi State hires Penn State OC Joe Moorhead

Moorhead helped turn Penn State’s offense into one of the nation’s most explosive units (AP)

I wrote about how Tennessee should’ve pursued Joe Moorhead earlier in the year, but even then, I knew it was a long shot.

When Moorhead was announced as Dan Mullen’s replacement, it was shocking for a lot of people. With virtually no ties to the south, Moorhead is willingly diving headfirst into the unknown.

On the bright side, Moorhead has head coaching experience from his days at Fordham, and he transformed Penn State’s dormant offense into one of the nation’s best. If Bulldog fans were afraid that Nick Fitzgerald would head into next season under a questionable circumstances, those fears have been eliminated.
