No. 1) Texas A&M hires Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher

Fisher enters College Station as a championship-winning coach with familiarity in the SEC during his days at LSU (USA Today)

While national attention shifted to the absurdity of Tennessee’s coaching search, Jimbo Fisher departed from Florida State on seemingly toxic terms and is now set to coach against his former mentor — Nick Saban — once a year.

Of all the coaches hired in the SEC, none has a more impressive resume than Fisher’s, which includes an 83-23 overall record, a National Championship, six 10-win seasons and a 5-2 record in bowl games.

However, Fisher’s abrupt decision to leave Tallahassee for College Station is troubling. Even after the administration at Florida State provided Fisher with each of his demands, he still felt he never had full support.

Regardless, Fisher is by far the most accomplished coach of the bunch, making him the top SEC hire during the 2017 coaching carousel.
