Tennessee and John Currie are apparently throwing out all the stops for Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy. Even Peyton Manning is involved according to this report.
Sources: Among the conversations b/w Tennessee & Mike Gundy before today included a call from Peyton Manning making a pitch for Gundy to come to UT

Gundy is a former quarterback for the Oklahoma State Cowboys back in the 1980’s and has been the head coach in Stillwater since 2005. He has a 113-53 record and has one Big XII title (2011).
Jimmy Hyams reported this morning that the Vols would go after Gundy.
With Duke’s David Cutcliffe and Iowa State’s Matt Campbell out of the picture, Tennessee has turned its coaching search focus to Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy. Three sources told me UT has interviewed Gundy, perhaps in Dallas. UT offered Gundy in 2012 but he said declined.

Landing Gundy would be a helluva catch after the horrible Greg Schiano fiasco from Sunday.
Tennessee and Gundy have flirted before back in 2012 before the Vols hired Butch Jones. Gundy decided to take a raise to stay with the Cowboys. That pitch from Tennessee didn’t include Peyton Manning, however.
